This smallest aster has introduced itself from the Rocky Mountains into the Edmonton area.
Forms a nice mound. It will spread slowly into a larger clump; sometimes self-seeds.
Bloom time: July, August
Ht: 15-30 cm (6-12”)
Full sun; well-drained or rocky soil on the dry side.
Aster seeds have a low germination rate, so plant lots. You can always thin them out later. Sow the seeds directly into the garden in late fall and they will germinate in the spring. These seeds need a cold, moist stratification before they will germinate. Or cold moist stratify for 6 – 8 weeks.
