A groundcover of Aspen and mixed wood forests.
Each stem has one compound leaf that is divided into 3, and each division, in turn, has 3 - 5 leaflets so that each plant looks like it has 3 leaves.
These leaves can form a thick umbrella-like canopy over the forest floor, so that the greenish-white flowers and purple berries are quite hidden.
Bloom: June, July.
Height: 30 - 40 cm ( 12 - 16")
Grow in semi-shade to deep shade.
This species can spread agressively once established.
